Personal Protection Act Seminar Reminder, This & That, Local Events & Stupid Criminals

Good evening Folks. Just a reminder to mark October 1, 2005, on your calendars. Jon Gutmacher, author of 'Florida Firearms - Law, Use & Ownership,' will be the featured speaker at a free seminar held at Knight's from 10:00AM to 12:00 PM regarding the "Protection of Persons & Property Act" that becomes effective on that date. We are approaching 100 folks on the list for the seminar -- be sure to put your name on that list also! If you do attend, be sure to bring your Florida Firearms lawbook -- Jon will also be conducting a book signing! Light refreshments will be served. Please feel free to invite others who have an interest as well as any media and law enforcement friends that you have. So far, not much luck with either category! As usual, I am going to analyze some recent local events involving 'WC' (Whale Crap) scumbags that live in our area. WC seems like a great term actually -- scumbags are definitely the lowest form of whale crap!        1. Per Ed Martenfeld, Knight Shooting Sports, there is a change to the procedure for those students that have completed my Advanced Tactical (draw from holster) firing course and want to continue to practice those skill sets. Please visit the range and speak with Ed so that he may personally evaluate your request to be permitted to do so. If approved, he will require that you execute a specific agreement to cover the eventualities of that very advanced firing activity and then have a special identifier placed on your range ID card. That symbol will clearly indicate to Knight's staff that you are permitted to draw from the holster using only Pistol Lanes #1 and #8. Please feel free to contact me if any questions and sorry for the inconvenience!
       2. Hopefully you have signed up for the National Do Not Call list for your cellphones. As of September 1, 2005, telemarketers may call your cell phone -- on your nickel! The cell phone listing will work same as the landline. To enter your cell phone numbers, simply call 1-888-382-1222 from that cell phone. Your number will be blocked for five years. You may also use www.donotcall.gov.
       3. Jane and I have added new listings to our cell phones -- ICE (In Case of Emergency). I have two listed as ICE 1 and ICE 2. Jane has three. This will assist emergency responders to access either a family member or relative if required. This has been around for a while but the need reinforced as a result of the London bombings.
       4. Hurricane Katrina has definitely highlighted the need to be self-sufficient in an emergency. Jane and I have taken definitive steps to be able to survive without assistance for at least two weeks. The Gulf Coast in general and the New Orleans experience in particular has demonstrated how quickly your normal, daily life can degenerate into a life and death situation with your only assets those assets that you have immediately available and stockpiled. It is apparent that neither the city, county, state nor federal government can be relied upon during the first five to seven days -- if you are lucky! Remember that I advise in class that you may only bring to any event your previous training, education and experience and current state of physical conditioning. You can add to that supplies (food, water, medicines, flashlights, batteries, etc.), firearms, ammunition, cell phones, gasoline, a generator, lanterns, radios, full tanks of gasoline, tarps, ice chests, etc. You had also better be prepared to protect what you need to survive whether you evacuate or remain in your home or business. Don't count on law enforcement to keep order and protect you. One of the first videotapes of looting showed two uniformed female NOPD cops filling a shopping cart with stolen goods. To be honest, my philosophy is pretty simple and absolutely shared by others. In a true disaster, either natural or man made, I will be dedicated to protecting my family, friends, neighborhood and community as well as preserving law and order and helping to preclude a descent into anarchy and chaos. The scumbag philosophy, as evidenced so well in the last few weeks, is simply that if they need it or want it, they will take it if you cannot stop them. Does that sound familiar? You have been watching that happen my friends -- live and in color! Be a good scout -- BE PREPARED!

Local Events

"Drivers lose cool and rage over a space" St. Petersburg Times August 4, 2005

       Parking spots must be really limited at the Largo Walmart. A woman is trying to hold a disabled parking spot for her husband on August 1, 2005. As she is standing there, another male driver decides he wants that spot and screw the woman standing there. He bumps her out of the way with his Cadillac. The woman's husband gets into an argument with the second driver and then gets punched by the other guy. The second driver is then arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery with a Motor Vehicle and Simple Battery. Here is the neat part. The first driver is 70, his wife 66 and the aggressive scumbag is 81! I guess it doesn't pay to try and save a parking spot! That's still not as bad as the week before when a 16-year-old male is shot and killed in St. Petersburg in an argument over a parking spot. That scumbag killer had a criminal record of more than 20 years thereby qualifying for the title of RWC (Real Whale Crap)!
       At least no one was killed in that case. There was an August 3, 2005, road rage in Brockton, MA. The Associated Press headline read "Man Holding Daughter Killed in Road Rage." A 60-year-old ex-soldier and security guard had recently began taking two different medications for depression. The scumbag was driving his wife to the train station and the 27-year-old victim's car began to back down the street toward the 60-year-old man's car. They exchanged heated words (probably replete with appropriate profanity, comments on parental shortcomings and a propensity for perverted sexual acts with small fuzzy animals) and the older man continued to the train station. He dropped his wife off, returned to the scene, pointed a handgun through an open window, fired four times thereby killing the 27-year-old who is reaching into the vehicle for his 10-month-old daughter and then drives away! There were dozens of witnesses and the license plate number was provided. The scumbag now has a real reason to be depressed -- he was charged with first-degree murder due to the premeditated nature of the cold-blooded shooting. By the way, the TWC killer had a concealed weapon permit! This is a great reinforcement for my belief that you simply don't know who you are dealing with, have no idea of their capacity for violence and the scumbag is in charge of the event!
       Last one folks I promise! This occurred in Eustis, Florida, on August 12, 2005. The St. Petersburg Times August 13, 2005, headline read "Angry motorist allegedly guns down road workers." A 66-year-old man argues with a couple of construction company workers on Thursday, August 10. He returns to the project site on August 11, 2005, at 9AM and shoots both workers. A 71-year-old worker was killed and a 32-year-old man transported to the Orlando Regional medical Center with a gunshot wound to the upper body. The shooter was captured 30 minutes later and will most likely be charged with premeditated murder due to the lapse between the argument and the shooting. Gee, I wonder if the two victims thought it was over on Thursday?

"Gunmen knock on door, rob couple in their home" St. Petersburg Times August 9, 2005

Once again, complacency at home exposed a Seminole couple to grave danger. The 48-year-old homeowner and his wife are cleaning the refrigerator Sunday evening, August 7. There was a knock at the door so the man answers his door and is staring down the barrel of a gun. He is ordered back into the house and he complies. The gunman points his firearm at the man's wife and he attacks the scumbag. The citizen and scumbag are fighting on the floor when the second gunman sticks his gun in the good citizen's face and the fight is over. The NTWC (Not Total Whale Crap) scumbags then tape the man and woman's hands and feet and flee with some cash and jewelry. At least they weren't killed or otherwise injured except for their eternal peace of mind and security in their own home and the lifelong trauma. You don't have to answer the door people! It is your door, a barrier to the evils of the outside world! Don't let them in dadgum it. I have dealt with a number of home invasion victims -- not one of those victims was the same after that experience!

"Child, parent thwart kidnapping attempts" St. Petersburg Times August 22, 2005

Tampa police advised that there were two separate attempted child abductions over the weekend. It was 12:40 PM, August 20, 2005. A 34-year-old mother and her 7-year-old son who were transitioning from her car to an Amscot office on North Armenia. The mother was checking out a piece of broken door glass when she saw a man rapidly approaching her with a wood handled screwdriver or some other tool. She pulled her son close and began stabbing the man with a piece of broken glass in the stomach and screaming as he tried to drag the child from her grasp. The scumbag was rather quickly turned into a good cockroach and fled when the "lights were turned on" so to speak.
The second attempt allegedly involved a 12-year-old girl and an attack in a skating rink. However, that was debunked a few days later and the girl admitted that it was a fabrication. There actually was an apparent weirdo at the North Armenia skating rink on Sunday, August 20, 2005, who also happened to appear at the Carrollwood skating rink on Sundays during kid's hour. He is described as a male Hispanic, 5-5, 30 to 40 years of age, bald and displays tattoos on his arms and legs. In this event, the manager asked him to leave and he did so. Remember Folks, if you are not watching your children, someone else may be doing so! "Fire, Fire, Fire," "He Has My Children" and "You are not my mother or father" shouted at the top of the lungs combined with active resistance may help your child to survive the attack my friends! I still have visions of Carlie Bruscia walking willingly to her death with that murderous psycho scumbag career felon!

Stupid Criminals

Per the St. Petersburg Times August 26, 2005, edition, a 64-year-old man walks past a marked Hillsborough Sheriff patrol car at 1PM and enters the GTE Federal Union on East Bloomingdale Avenue. He walks up to a teller, demands money from a teller, receives same, sits in the lobby for a few minutes and exits the bank directly into the waiting arms of a sheriff's deputy. It appears that he wanted to be arrested because he was surely too stupid to make a getaway!
This also happened in Tampa and appeared in the August 9, 2005, edition of the Tampa Tribune. This 22-year-old rocket scientist is the designated driver for his drunken buddy. He wants to play a joke on two guys in a car in front of him so he plugs in a red & blue dash light to make a traffic stop. He lights them up but he has two minor problems -- he laughs at them as he drives by and he happened to select two undercover REAL police officers. They pull him over and he flees on foot leaving behind his drunken buddy, a 16-year-old girl and 7 grams of cocaine. A 26-year-old woman in the car was arrested and charged with cocaine possession and Mr. Genius was charged with cocaine possession, impersonating a police officer and resisting arrest! Apparently he stopped smiling and laughing when they took his mug shot at the Orient Road jail!
