Stay Safe Street Tip #47
Advanced Tactical Class & March 13, 2003 LOK Meeting
Ladies of the Knight Meeting -- March 13, 2003
1. Please note that the March 13, 2003, LOK meeting schedule is:
A.
Registration in the classroom from 6 - 7PM. Light refreshments will be served.
In addition, April from Body & Sole Spa will again be doing free chair massages.
Please note that tipping April is not mandatory but sincerely appreciated!
B.
The LOK meeting seminar will then be conducted from 7 - 8PM. Dr. Steve Nelson
will address the threat of terrorist use of biological weapons of mass destruction.
Doc Nelson, as we call him, is going to approach the topic from a practical
viewpoint with information that we can use to protect our families in the event
of a local attack. He is an excellent speaker and well versed in this area.
I am pleased that once again we have an expert willing to volunteer his time
for our meeting.
C.
The firing portion from 8 - 9:30PM will be 9MM submachine guns -- Rock and Roll
Forever! Knight's will provide 9MM submachine guns for your firing pleasure.
These are "user friendly" firearms with light recoil and weight. We
are planning on 50 rounds of 9MM per shooter. I will also donate another Mahogany
Metro Mini Q20-M Coronado Leather carry bag as a free raffle prize! The total
cost for the ladies shooting the submachine guns $20.60. We will also offer
any shooter the opportunity to fire additional 9MM at a cost of $10.60 per box
but only after all other shooters have fired. In addition, the retail store
will again be open for your shopping pleasure -- remember, as LOK members you
receive 10% off all regular priced items in the store except firearms &
range time. We will also be available to offer firearm cleaning advice and lessons
during the firing portion as a concurrent training station. Jane will be available
to answer questions about Coronado Leather products (already on sale) and accept
special orders. Incidentally, both Knight's and I are still offering Gift Certificates!
D.
The total cost for the evening will depend on what you shoot. If you want to
only attend the social and seminar portion, the cost is $10.00. Please
be advised that we will not be accepting deposits in advance. Please call Knight's
(727-546-4447) or yours truly (727-535-9151 or 727-515-1317) or send me an email
to advise that you will attend! We do appreciate knowing the number of attendees
so that we may properly plan but walk-ins are more than welcome!
2. Folks, please also remember that IDPA
competitive shooting is scheduled for the first & third Wednesday each month.
Registration is at 6:30PM and the price is $6.50. Please note that all shooters
will require 100 rounds of ammunition and eye & ear protection and that
these items are not included in the $6.50 fee. Please remember two things
-- first 25 get to shoot and please support Knight's by buying your ammo and
accessories there. Ed, Mark and Marni will appreciate it! By the way ladies,
IDPA shooting is not only for the men!
Advanced Tactical Handgun Course
Sorry for the delay but I just completed the Advanced Tactical
Concealed Carry course. Let's start training for reality -- the scumbags are out
there! This will be a 350 round course focusing on the use of handguns carried
concealed on your person. All firing sequences will have you draw from either
your concealed holster, inside the belt holster, fanny pack, purse, shoulder
holster or ankle holster. In addition, I want to start working on more accurate
firing in the area of possible hostage situations. The course cost will be
$95.00 and includes range fees. Prerequisites are the completion of the 200
round Self-defense Course, the 300 round Tactical Handgun Course and the
approval of the Primary Instructor, yours truly. I do reserve the right to waive
the Self-defense and Tactical classes based on an individual shooter's
qualifications, training and experience. All shooters will be responsible for
their firearms, 350 rounds of ammunition, at least three magazines or two
speedloaders and eye & ear protection. Also, each shooter should wear jeans and
athletic shoes. Please remember that you do not have to be an athlete to
participate -- we all have to train and fight within our own physical
limitations! You know my thoughts on that topic. The first Advanced Class will
be March 16, 2003, beginning at 7:45AM and completing by 12PM. Deposits of
$25.00 are required and the class will be limited to the first eight with
deposits. Should be fun. Here is the new course of fire:
